Day 1
Evening meeting at Bled, town at the base of Julian Alps. We will talk about the best program regarding weather and conditions for the following week. Ideally we want to climb Triglav first and do some acclimatization before Grossglockner ascent. Checking the gear and getting ready for the first climbing day. Sport climbing is a great training to get ready for the big wall experience on the next day. We will choose one of the local crags around Bled and spent half of the day climbing and learning about belaying and rope work. In the afternoon you can jump in the lake.
Day 2
Depending on your previous climbing experience we will decide which route to climb in the impressive Triglav North wall. With 1:2 guiding ratio we can choose between Slovenian- grade 2-3 and German route- grade3-4. This are 800m long routes that normally take 4-5 hours to climb. All together it will be a 6-8 hour long day with spending the night at one of the Triglav huts. Depending on the weather forecast this might also be our summit day. (Additional 3 hours)
Day 3
Normally we will do the climb to the summit of Triglav. This includes a short hike and final 300 meters are Via ferrata. Summit of the Triglav is an amazing view point. We will descent all the way back to the valley, transfer back to Bled.
Day 4
Transfer from Bled to Lucknerhaus in Austria- 3h, from where we will start the Grossglockner ascent. We will do a short hike to Stuedlhuette, which takes 3 hours of easy hike.
Day 5
After breakfast at Studelhutte we will traverse a glacier and climb Studlgrat- grade AD, that leads all the way to the summit. We will descent via normal route, with a short stop at Adlersruhe. We will continue to descent and stop for a lunch at Stuedlhuete. Descent to the car and drive back to Bled. 10 hour long day with 3 hour long drive.
Day 6
This is an extra day for weather. We can have much more flexibility with one extra day to summit both Triglav and Grossglockner. If all goes as planned, we will take this extra day and climb another trad route somewhere in Julian Alps, grade 4-5, 300-500m long. An 6-8 hour long day.
